Peak Season (October to March)
The best weather for sightseeing and water sports. The sea is calm, and visibility for diving is at its peak. October to March is the best time to travel to Andaman Nicobar with temperatures ranging between 22° C to 30°C. It is also a suitable time for couples to enjoy a scenic romantic holiday in the Andaman Islands. Honeymoon couples can explore the picturesque beaches of Andaman and enjoy candlelight dinners. Shoulder Season (April to May)
Great for fewer crowds and better deals, though it starts getting warmer. This season is characterized by warm and humid weather. The temperatures hover between 33 degrees to 24 degrees Celsius. however, you can expect balmy evenings perfect for taking a stroll on the stunning beaches, exploring the markets, and enjoying the nightlife in Andaman. The shoulder season is also the best season to go to Andaman with family. It is because school kids have their summer holidays and tour prices are slightly lower than during peak season.
Monsoon (June to September)
The monsoon season arrives in the Andaman Islands during the months of June to September. Monsoon season brings unpredictable stormy weather, overcast skies, heavy rainfall, and poor underwater visibility. Due to poor weather conditions, outdoor activities like trekking, kayaking, and island hopping get affected. The off-season is not the best time to go to Andaman. It is because water sports like scuba diving, parasailing, or snorkeling are temporarily suspended. By Air (The Fast & Easy Way)
This is how 95% of travelers get there. All flights land at Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair (recently renamed Sri Vijaya Puram).
Direct Flights
Available from major cities like Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Visakhapatnam.
Duration
- From Chennai/Kolkata: ~2 hours.
- From Delhi/Mumbai: ~3.5 to 5 hours.
By Sea (The Scenic & Slow Way)
If you aren’t in a rush and want a “classic” voyage, you can take a government-operated passenger ship.
Ports
Ships depart from Chennai, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam.
Duration
It’s a long haul—roughly 60 to 70 hours (about 3 days) depending on the weather.
Frequency
Usually only 3–4 sailings per month from Chennai/Kolkata and once a month from Vizag.
These are basic passenger ships, not luxury cruises. If you get seasick easily or prefer comfort over adventure, stick to the flight.
Nightlife in Andaman
If you’re expecting a high-energy “Goa-style” party scene with neon lights and music thumping until 4:00 AM, Andaman will surprise you—it’s much more laid-back. Nightlife here is about starlit dinners, rooftop bars, and unique nature experiences.
By 10:30 PM, most of the islands start to tuck themselves in, but here is where you can find the best evening vibes:
1. Port Blair: Rooftops & Restos
As the capital, Port Blair has the most “conventional” nightlife. Most of it centers around hotel restobars.
- Amaya (Seashell): Probably the most famous rooftop bar in the city. It offers a great view of the ocean, live music, and excellent cocktails.
- Cellular Jail Light & Sound Show: While not a “party,” this is the most popular evening activity. It’s an immersive historical experience under the stars.
2. Havelock Island: Beach Vibes & Bioluminescence
Havelock is the heart of the island’s tourist energy.
- Venom Bar: Located at Symphony Palms, it’s a legendary spot for divers and travelers to grab a beer and swap stories.
- Something Different: A quirky, brightly lit cafe that’s great for a late-night meal and a chilled atmosphere.
- Night Kayaking: This is the “real” nightlife of Havelock. You paddle into the mangroves to see Bioluminescent Plankton—the water literally glows blue with every stroke of your paddle.
3. Neil Island: Quiet & Soulful
Don’t expect clubs here. Neil is for “slow travel.”
- Candlelight Dinners: Most resorts on Neil (like SeaShell or TSG Aura) specialize in private dinners on the beach.
- Stargazing: Because there is very little light pollution on Neil, the night sky is breathtaking. Many travelers just grab a blanket and head to the beach to watch the Milky Way.
Important Notes
• Connectivity: There is no mobile data in many remote parts; even in Port Blair, Wi-Fi can be patchy. It’s the perfect place for a “digital detox.” BSNL & Airtel connectivity is better than other service providers.
• Language: While the local language is technically Bengali or Tamil, almost everyone speaks fluent Hindi and English.
• Book Ferries in Advance: Moving between Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil requires ferry tickets. Private cruises like Makruzz , Nautika sell out days (sometimes weeks) in advance during peak season.
